September 5, 2018 - Musician, educator and visual artist Jason Graham, aka MOsley WOtta, has been chosen as Bend’s first creative laureate. Bend City Council To Appoint Arts Envoy
April 19, 2018 - The Bend City Council is scheduled Thursday to accept a proclamation on the value of the arts. The council will also create a new position to serve as an arts ambassador in Central Oregon. The Arts and Cultural Alliance will accept applications for Bend’s first creative laureate through May 15. René Mitchell of Scalehouse Contemporary Creative Center, who proposed the position, said the winning applicant will be tasked with education and advocacy work. View Article

Community-Based Mural Promotes Awareness
August 2, 2023 - If you frequent downtown Bend, you might have seen the new, creative and thought-provoking Scalehouse Gallery mural. Scalehouse Gallery, a contemporary arts center, set out to create a community-based mural centered around prompting a healthy and constructive dialogue around houselessness. June 24, 2023 - Tears formed in Michelle Hester’s eyes as she looked at the mural being painted in the Centennial parking garage in downtown Bend. In shades of blue, purple, pink, and orange, a story of homelessness was coming to life. The mural depicts a person returning to a home with an eviction notice on the door as well as scenes of life with a pet and a community. View Article
