ABOUT ART IS WORK

As a part of our Arts Education Program, Art Lab, Art is Work offers professional development opportunities for Artists and is dedicated to enhancing the skills, knowledge, and professional practices of adult arts learners in the dynamic landscape of contemporary arts education. This program recognizes the evolving nature of artistic practices and aims to equip people with the tools and insights needed to inspire working artists. In Art is Work Workshops with artist and Scalehouse Board Member, Nancy Floyd, learners are provided with professional development workshops as well as space to build community.

ABOUT NANCY FLOYD

Nancy Floyd has been a visual artist for over 40 years. She is the recipient of numerous grants and awards including a 2022 Guggenheim Fellowship, the 2019 International Center of Photography / GOST Books First Photo Book Award, a 2018 Aaron Siskind Photography Fellowship and a 2014 John Gutmann Photography Fellowship.Floyd’s artwork is in the collection of the High Museum of Art (Atlanta, GA), Museum of Contemporary Photography (Chicago, IL), Lightwork (Syracuse, NY), and in numerous private collections. Floyd holds a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin, an MA from Columbia College Chicago, and an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. She is Emerita Professor in the Ernest G. Welch School of Art and Design at Georgia State University in Atlanta and lives in Bend, Oregon.
