Art in Public Places : Sculpture Designs for 18th & Empire Roundabout

Art in Public Places (AiPP), in partnership with the City of Bend, presents design renderings for three proposed sculptures for the 18th & Empire Avenue roundabout.
The proposals by Pete Beeman (Portland, OR), Saori Ide & Jonathan Russell (Berkeley, CA), and Robert Tully (Louisville, CO) will be on view July 3–18, 2026, at two locations: The Scalehouse Annex Gallery and The Larkspur Community Center (1600 SE Reed Market Rd.)
Community members of all ages are invited to view the designs and provide feedback on the three finalist proposals selected through a collaborative process between Art in Public Places (AiPP) and the City of Bend Engineering Department. One final design will be selected for fabrication and installation, anticipated in Summer 2027.
The roundabout is located at Empire Avenue and 18th Street in northeast Bend, an area experiencing significant residential and commercial growth, serving as a key connector across the city.

ABOUT THE ANNEX:
The Annex at Scalehouse is a program located in the lobby of the Franklin Crossing Building, a public gathering space in downtown Bend. This highly visible, community-centered environment is dedicated to showcasing 2D work by emerging artists.
Selected artists present work that contributes to Scalehouse’s mission of building community through arts and culture. The Annex provides an opportunity for emerging artists to gain experience and exposure while engaging a broad public audience in a shared space.
