Photographer, Painter, Filmmaker, Architect, Software Engineer
Inspired by such disparate voices as poet Mary Oliver and psychoanalyst DW Winnicot, Portland-based painter and photographer John Houck dwells at the intersection of perception, computer science, and psychoanalysis. Houck’s art invites us to recall the roles of play and spontaneity in our lives of technical repetition and digital uniformity. With art housed in permanent collections in every region of the United States, his voice is truly far reaching. We are fortunate to host him on November 13th to discuss art and technology, and if we are lucky his newest hobby, beekeeping.
